Parable of the Beggar

To what shall I compare this generation?

It is like unto a beggar who was found starving in the shadow of a city gate. When a passing traveler offered him a crust of bread and a sip of wine, the beggar replied: "Away with you! I ate but a week ago. It is not my custom to eat more than once in a fortnight. How dare you force this food upon me?"

Let him who has ears hear.

In reality, this translates to: "Why are we having the Lord's Supper today? We just communed last week!"
